Introducing Breakdown Buddy: A New Era of Roadside Safety
Breaking down on the roadside is something no driver wants to experience, but for thousands of people across the UK each year, it becomes a dangerous reality. In fact, there are 224,000 breakdowns on UK motorways every year.
And whether you’re on the motorway with your family, travelling alone at night, or waiting for roadside assistance in poor weather, the risks are significant. Sadly, there are around 100 fatalities each year on UK hard shoulders.
That’s why we’re proud to announce the launch of Breakdown Buddy – a UK-designed, compact, inflatable roadside shelter that deploys in seconds to keep drivers and passengers safe, visible, and comfortable while they wait for help.

Why Roadside Safety Matters More Than Ever
According to national statistics, hundreds of accidents occur each year when vehicles break down on busy roads. The UK Government’s recommended advice includes pulling over to the hard shoulder and moving passengers safely behind a barrier where possible.
But during adverse weather conditions and/or at night – it can be scary and uncomfortable to wait for help outside in the cold – especially for families with young children, elderly drivers, and drivers with vulnerable passengers.
Breakdown Buddy was designed to address these challenges head-on. It goes beyond traditional car breakdown safety tips by giving drivers a physical, protective solution in the form of an emergency car safety shelter.
What is Breakdown Buddy?
Breakdown Buddy is a compact roadside safety device that inflates rapidly to form a bright, protective shelter. It has three key benefits:
- Increased visibility: The shelter makes stranded vehicles and passengers more visible to approaching traffic.
- Enhanced protection: It shields drivers and passengers from weather and the immediate dangers of standing by the roadside.
- Added comfort: Instead of waiting in the cold, rain, or dark, drivers can wait inside a secure space until roadside assistance arrives.
Unlike bulky safety equipment, Breakdown Buddy is lightweight, easy to store in any vehicle, and simple to deploy in an emergency.
Designed and Developed in the UK
We’re proud that Breakdown Buddy has been designed in the UK by our team at Cornelius Creative, combining innovation, practicality, and care for everyday drivers, and we’re thrilled to be involved in the UK launch of the product at the Highways UK event.

Breakdown Buddy’s mission is simple: to make UK roads safer for everyone, from families on long journeys to professional lorry drivers and elderly motorists who may be more vulnerable in a breakdown situation.
Where to See Breakdown Buddy in Action
We are officially unveiling Breakdown Buddy at Highways UK, held on 15–16 October 2025. This will be the first opportunity for the public, industry leaders, and investors to see the product up close and discover how it can transform roadside safety.
If you’re attending, we invite you to visit us at our stand S13 in the Start-up Zone to experience a live demonstration and learn how Breakdown Buddy could become an essential part of every UK driver’s emergency car safety equipment.
Looking Ahead
Breakdown Buddy represents a new era of roadside safety in the UK. By combining innovation with a genuine commitment to protecting lives, we believe this product has the potential to become as essential as a seatbelt or airbag.
Whether you’re a parent wanting extra peace of mind, a frequent traveller covering long distances, or an investor looking to support life-saving technology, Breakdown Buddy is here to change the way we think about safety after a breakdown.

Stay tuned for updates, demonstrations, and real-world stories as we bring this important innovation to drivers across the UK.
